For Formula 1 enthusiasts and Ferrari fans, the F399 offers an interesting look at late-90s racing technology. Compared to today’s Formula 1 cars, its design is simpler and it's powered by a V10 engine.
When Michael Schumacher was injured mid-season, Irvine stepped up and kept the team in the title fight. With wins in Austria, Germany and Malaysia in this exact chassis, he became a serious championship contender. He eventually finished just two points behind Mika Häkkinen.
Although Ferrari didn’t win the Drivers’ Championship that year, they did secure the Constructors’ Championship, thanks to the performances of Irvine, Schumacher and Mika Salo. In the five seasons that followed, the team went on to win both titles multiple times.
