Kroymans Ferrari celebrates 40 years of Ferrari Testarossa

Kroymans Ferrari in Hilversum 17 April 2024

In 1984, Ferrari unveiled the Testarossa as the successor to the Berlinetta Boxer, marking the birth of a true cultural icon.

The name Testa Rossa, meaning "Red Head" in Italian, pays homage to the red-painted camshaft covers featured on earlier sports racing models. The Testarossa made its dazzling debut at the iconic Lido nightclub on the Champs Élysées in Paris, on the eve of the 1984 Paris Motor Show.

Designed by Pininfarina, the Testarossa’s styling was bold and innovative, breaking with Ferrari tradition. Its enlarged side intakes, a functional necessity, gave rise to the signature long side strakes—instantly recognizable as the car’s most iconic feature.

As Ferrari's flagship model of the 1980s, the Testarossa became a symbol of the era, appearing prominently in pop culture phenomena such as Miami Vice and the video game Out Run, solidifying its status as a cornerstone of 1980s retro culture.

Over the years, the Testarossa evolved through several iterations, starting with the Monospecchio (Italian for "single mirror"). We are proud to offer two Monospecchio models from 1985, both finished in the classic Rosso Corsa exterior. One features a sleek Nero leather interior, while the other boasts an elegant combination of Beige and Marrone.
