Kroymans Collection: 1969 Ferrari 365 GTB/4

Kroymans Ferrari

28 November 2022

Presented at the 1968 Paris Motor Show, the 365 GTB/4 was quickly dubbed as the ‘Daytona’ to commemorate the 1-2-3 Ferrari finish at the 24 Hours of Daytona in 1967. The car replaced the outgoing Ferrari 275 GTB/4.

A unique feature of the 365 GTB/4 were the four lights nestled behind a wide ‘display window’ running from one side of the car to the other. In current times, this is known as the ‘plexinose’ Daytona. This feature was replaced in 1970 with retractable headlights, which was used in the remainder of the production.

Our Daytona

Sold new in Italy in 1969, it was ordered in metallic ‘Azzurro’ with Nero leather interior. After spending its life in the US, Switzerland and France, it arrived in Dutch ownership for the first time in 2012. With them, it received a complete cosmetical and technical restoration whilst retaining the interior and sports Cromodora wheels.

Important notes about our car:

  • a first series, matching numbers example
  • one of the first examples commercially with aluminium doors and short axle
  • features the now-desirable ‘plexinose’ front design
  • In 2022, Ferrari Classiche approved the car as original by releasing the desirable Red Book.
